I’ll be brief (for once). Gender identity has become a huge issue in American society, a much bigger issue than it is in, say Haiti or Sudan or Iraq. As I understand it (although I don’t, and never will), a man that wants to be a woman is a trans-female. I think that I have that right, but again, I don’t understand it, and spend absolutely no time contemplating it. I am sixty-seven years old, and in my entire life, from childhood to senility, I have never once known a man that wanted to lop off his business, and grow boobs. Don’t get me wrong, I empathize with these confused people. I myself am a lesbian, trapped in a man’s body.
The epicenter of this dilemma seems to be sports. Men that think they are females want to compete against women in athletics. To date, I am unaware of any women who think that they are men who are attempting to play in the NFL or NBA. The top-rated professional female track runner in the mile couldn’t beat the top 400 male runners in high school track.
A male swimmer who now calls himself Lia was about the worst male swimmer in the entire NCAA. But swimming against women, he/she/it sets women’s record times in every event he enters. He/she/it is twice the size of the girls in the competition. I won’t bother to go into body mass, wing-spread, testosterone, blah, blah, blah. The women (the ones born that way) aren’t happy, but they’re incompetent in redressing the injustice.
I could solve this in one day. Go to the next NCAA swimming event. “Swimmers take your mark, set, GO!” Let Lia leap into the water to win. Let every other competitor refuse to compete. Step off the starting blocks, and go back to the locker room (before Lia joins them in the showers). Let every true female athlete in every sport refuse to compete in any event that a man/trans-female is allowed to enter. That would be the end of it. Period. I’m sorry that it took a man to point this out.
