I have purposely been in a Republican intellectual group for 4 years. We have formed lasting friendships that I am grateful for and that I value as a great benefit to my life. They are physicians, scientists, and thinking people. The brain power is unmatched as well as “thinking outside the box”.
However, our political views widely diverge. I have been listening to their viewpoint the whole time but only when I saw the documentary “Bad Faith” did I realize that they unconsciously adhere to Christian Nationalistic views. They would never call themselves fundamentalists but they are — of the worst ilk. Here is what I have been hearing:
- The government is not to be trusted on any level. In fact, it needs to be torn down. It is called the deep state.
- Libbies are evil — they want to destroy free speech. They want to perform sex change operations on our 6 year old children. (My group would never say this but I was detecting a flavor of “Libbies are from Satan.” They constantly demonize all Dems, calling them socialists and communists.)
- Education as we know it should be destroyed. It teaches Libbie values — and that is ALL it teaches in the classroom. That’s Communism, so education in this country should be destroyed and slanted toward “our” values.
- The Democratic party should not exist. There is only one correct party and it’s us.
- Be afraid, be very afraid. The very foundation of our democracy has been destroyed by Dems. (Underneath, unknown to them is Dems are Godless)
- We were founded as a Christian nation (which is a barefaced untruth) and our morals have been so corrupted by Dems our task is to recover our moral compass (by inserting Christianity everywhere — in our schools, in the government, wherever it can be inserted).
- We need to abolish the separation of church and state. Put church back in — OUR church.
- Everything must be destroyed and we have to start over. Democracy itself has to be destroyed. (This is the worst one that they are completely unconscious of. Christian Nationalist’s are fully conscious of this. Regular Republicans are not.)
- Outlaw abortion. (Christian Nationalists are anti-abortion. What shocking thing just happened with the Supreme Court? I was so surprised. Apparently Christian Nationalists have infiltrated every level of government. Pence was one, and now we have Vance.)
My Republican friends are blissfully unaware that January 6 was an attempted takeover of our government and of elections. It was the move of a dictator. Since then there are supposedly massive amounts of data “proving” that the election was stolen.
As I viewed “Bad Faith” I heard one preacher say “fight fight fight.” They have hitched their star to Donald Trump — what did he say after he was “shot”? “Fight fight fight.” I remember being stunned when he held up a bible at the insurrection. HIM? A bible? Ha ha ha…now I know why and it isn’t funny.
Donald Trump said “I will be your last president” just as he got in. Donald Trump just said, “Christians, get out and vote. This will be the last time you have to vote. Once we get in we will fix all elections to come.”
And there you have it — the stated vow of Christian Nationalists is to destroy democracy. (God is above democracy and democracy is an idol.) And they just might, and Republicans will willingly assist them.
I have wondered about massive amounts of propaganda flooding our country. I thought it was from outside sources trying to divide and conquer us, pit us against each other with hate. It wasn’t outside — it was inside.
